Welcome to the Alabama Bicycling Coalition AlaBike's Mission
The Alabama Bicycle Coalition, AlaBike,
was formed in September of 2003, to promote
cycling access, education and safety, to advocate for safer road environments
for all users, and to act as a statewide voice to encourage bicycling in Alabama.
Hey! It's May, Nat'l Bike Month!
Join us for the Ride of Silence - May 21, 7 pm
The Four Hill Century, May 12, 2007, was the last.
May 17, 2008, will be a "Tour de Cure" ride with the same route.
Increasing safety and accessibility
of cycling in communities improves their health, quality of life, and image to the world at large. With this core belief
that Alabama, too, can benefit from becoming a cycling friendly state, Alabike has been formed to work towards the following
Vision:
Alabama's cities, suburbs and rural areas are enticing and safe places for
healthy citizens and visitors to bicycle.
AlaBike's By-laws,
approved in September 2003, provide an outline to achieve this vision.
Safe, confident, and knowledgeable cyclists.
Competent and considerate motor vehicle drivers.
Restoration of the art and science of cycling as a recognized transportation choice.
Routine inclusion in transportation planning and engineering to allow safe bicycling for transportation to foster
healthy lifestyles and communities.
Access to transportation is maintained for those who cannot or choose not to drive motor vehicles.
Join AlaBike as we work to make Alabama and its roads a healthier, more friendly place for all of its citizens.
Thank-you!
